The World Service Business Conference – Overeaters Anonymous
is the annual business meeting of Overeaters Anonymous, Inc. WSBC serves as the collective conscience of the Fellowship of Overeaters Anonymous. Held annually in April or May, this week-long meeting is attended by delegates representing OA service bodies around the world. It is held to elect trustees, amend bylaws, adopt new business policies, and provide information to delegates through presentations and workshops on issues that affect OA as a whole. Check the World Service Business Conference page for details. https://oa.org/world-service-
Intergroups are responsible for funding the expenses to send reps to WSBC, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Some intergroups put aside some money each month for this – other intergroups hold fundraisers or special appeals for funds.
The WSO and the OA Virtual Region understand that some intergroups may need assistance beyond their own efforts. There are funds available to support Intergroups and Service Boards in sending delegates to the World Service Business Conference.
If your intergroup or service board is part of the Virtual Region and needs assistance to send a delegate to the Business Conference in April 2023, please complete the Delegate Support Fund application. (WSBC Delegate Support Fund Application)
If the VR is not able to fully fund the request, it will be sent by the VR to WSO for further review. At each level, preferences will be given to Intergroups that have never sent a rep to WSBC before – this includes brand new Intergroups and to Intergroups that are well represented at VR Assemblies.
The VR’s commitment is to support only one delegate per intergroup, but under special circumstances, the VR will consider assisting in sending a second delegate.
The Finance Committee suggests that the process to elect your WSBC Delegate(s) get started as soon as possible so the WSBC Delegate, VIG or Service Board Chair and the treasurer can work together to submit the DSF application.
Filling out the DSF application requires financial and contact information from your Treasurer. Each application must be signed on page 3 by an intergroup or service board officer other than the delegate.
The Delegate Support Fund deadline for submission is October 1, 2022. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Send your completed DSF application to the VR Treasurer.
